The craft behind Onwá

What makes a fragrance "intentional"?

Nothing in an Onwá scent is arbitrary. Every ingredient is chosen for a reason — to build a specific mood, memory, or moment — not just because it smells good on its own. Minimal, memorable, and made to resonate.

Why is it named Onwá?

Onwá means "moon" — it was the nickname given to our founder's grandfather, a respected community leader in Imo State, Nigeria. The name carries his legacy forward into every fragrance we make.

How is a scent developed at Onwá?

Before a single note is chosen, we start with a theme and a story. From there, we build in required tenacity — how long a scent lasts on skin — and projection — how far it travels into a room. Every note earns its place.

What does "small-batch" actually mean?

Every Onwá fragrance is made in limited quantities, not mass-produced. It keeps our process focused and lets us bring an avant-garde, hard-to-replicate character to every bottle — nothing generic, nothing rushed.
